Massage During Pregnancy - 12 CE Hours

Prepare yourself with up-to-date information about prenatal massage in the Fourth Edition of Massage During Pregnancy. Material covers anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, emotional adjustments, the role of the massage therapist as a member of the prenatal care team, labor support, and the postpartum period. Latest medical research includes a study on the use of ice massage for the reduction of labor pain. Material includes supporting research for contraindications of massage. Supine Hypotensive Syndrome and Deep Vein Thrombosis are described in detail. This edition also includes a chapter with Frequently Asked Questions from readers over the past eight years.  It is worth 12 CE hours. Because this course is written by Bette Waters, online testing is not available.

The first book ever written for the Therapeutic Massage Profession has been updated for 2010. The material in the research study outlined in the book "Ice Massage for the Reduction of Labor Pain," was published in the Journal of Midwifery and Women's Health, Sep/Oct 2003, and in 2009 was chosen to appear in the book Midwifery Best Practice, Vol. 5.

Since its first edition in 1995, this book has taken on a life of its own as a textbook for colleges who teach massage, as a home study program for massage therapists, and as a guide book for pregnant women. The home study is approved by NCBTMB and the State of Florida for 12 hours of Continuing Education.

The research in this edition has been updated. The chapter on postpartum has been expanded to include a tool for the pregnant client to use in making plans for after the baby is born that can be developed into a marketing freebie for the therapist.

The Frequently Asked Question chapter is enlarged. All the original graphics are there with some new ones. The cover has been given an exciting update by graphic designer, Jonathan Fackler.

Biography

My LATEST BOOK, My Mother Was A Spaceship, is the most important book I will ever write. Kirkus, the toughest book reviewer in the country, says,"Historical significant collection of first-hand birthing experiences," and gives voice to how women went into our hospital looking for safe childbirth and are mistreated and even tortured.

Born in Georgia to sharecroppers, and after raising a family, I went to college graduating from the Medical University of South Carolina. I was a Nurse Midwife and owned a massage facility. I wrote the first book ever on the market about massage and how it affects pregnancy, Massage During Pregnancy, now out in its Fourth Edition and is a Home Study program for massage therapists. This first book, Massage During Pregnancy, was published in 1995 by someone who failed to pay me royalties. He would hang up the phone on me. So, I fired him and began my own publishing company. Since that time I have published 32 books and written twelve.

Today, I live in the high desert of a small town in New Mexico 30 miles from the USA and Mexico border. As the Executive Director of Performing Arts Foundation of Luna County, I wrote and performed a monologue adapted from my latest book My Mother Was A Spaceship.
